LEAD SERVICE LINE SURVEY REQUIRED BY THE DNR NOTICE
    If you have not completed a lead service line survey for your property, please do so as soon as possible by clicking HERE by calling City Hall at 1-563-847-2190.
    Properties that have reported to the survey that their property has lead or galvanized service lines and properties that have not completed the survey, will be mailed these corresponding notices required by the Iowa DNR.
If you have reported that your property has a copper or pex/plastic water service line through the lead survey, you will not receive a letter.
    The Iowa DNR requires the city to continue to update the lead service line inventory whenever a service line is replaced. If you replace your property's water service line from lead or galvanized please contact the Public Works Department to report the updated service line material as copper or pex/plastic by calling 1-563-847-2190 or emailing gmcity@gmtel.net . Water & Sewer

A municipal water system is operated by the city, along with the sewage treatment plant. Water meters are read monthly during the last week of the month. Total fees due include water, sewer, storm sewer, and garbage charges and are due on the 20th of the month. New residents are required to pay a $100.00 customer deposit, before service can be started. Accounts not paid by the 20th of the month; will receive a $5.00 late fee penalty. Any account not paid in full before 7:30 a.m. on the 1st of the month will be charged a $30.00 administrative late fee and will be disconnected. To have service restored; once it has been disconnected; a $30.00 re-connect fee is assessed. All past due amounts, including all fees; must be paid in full before service will be restored. Once service is paid in full; it will only be restored during the City Hall & Public Works Department's scheduled office hours. Service will not be restored after hours; or on a weekend/holiday.

Water minimum charge is $13.03 plus $0.42/per 100 gallons. The rate per 100 gallons increases each year by 2% on July 1st. (Last posted 6/21/21)

Sewer minimum charge is $12.53 plus $0.32/per 100 gallons. The rate per 100 gallons increases each year by 2% on July 1st. (Last posted 6/21/21).

Payments can be made via check, cash, money order, or credit/debit card. Payments are accepted in person at City Hall, or via the drop box at City Hall or online at www.govpaynet.com PLC CODE A00009. Please note a small fee is associated with using a credit/debit card set by Govpaynet. You may also make your payment over the phone by calling 1-888-604-7888; which is available 24/7.

Garbage is picked up curbsite on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 a.m. Recycling is picked up curbside every Wednesday beginning at 7 am. Some holidays or inclement weather may affect this schedule. Notice of a delay in service pick up will be posted on the City Facebook page, Channel 20 and on the main page of this website.  RECYCLING INFORMATION:

Appliances/White Goods: Large home appliances such as stoves, refridgerators, water heaters, washing machines, dryers, deep freezes, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, and microwaves are an additional charge of $10.00 each.

Tires: car/light truck tires are an additional charge of $5.00 each off the rim and $10.00 each on the rim.

Electronic Waste:

  • $10.00 per computer tower 
  • $15.00 per computer monitor, tv with a screen size of 20 inches or less, large copier/printer, comptuer server
  • $20.00 per tv with a screen size over 20 inches
  • $15.00 per item for scanners, video cameras, VCR/DVD players, Radios/CD players, Cable & Satelitte Equipment, Fax Machine, Phones & Cell Phones.

  • Plastic food containers #1-#7 (no styrofoam or plastic bags/films)
  • Glass food jars
  • Aluminum foil, pans, and cans.
  • newspapers, office papers, magazines (Loose in Bin)
  • Corrugated Cardboard no larger than 3x3 sections
  • Chipboard/Fiberboard (Soda, cereal boxes, etc.)
